Factory Yamaha's Ben Spies is pleased to have not tested the 2012 1000cc Yamaha MotoGP bike yesterday at Mugello because it gives the manufacturer time to wheel out a more finished product in time for the Brno test in August.
The former World Superbike Champion, who grabbed a last-lap fourth from Marco Simoncelli on Sunday, says Yamaha weren't ready to do a full test of the new bike.
"We could have ridden at the test and they have expectations that they are happy with. They felt they weren't ready to do a full test and I think it's a blessing in disguise because now we can wait a bit longer and go to Brno," said the Texan.
"We just don't get a bike to ride and work on, we get a bike to ride and setup and then also try some other parts and give them a better direction for the second test. I think it's better so we can give them as much information as we possibly can that isn't just a shakedown. I'm actually happy about it."
