Noah Dettwiler issues further update: “It was a long time now in hospital…”

Gold and Goose

Noah Dettwiler has issued another update on his condition following his crash at the Malaysian MotoGP.

Dettwiler was taken to hospital after a crash with Jose Antonio Rueda on the sighting lap of the Moto3 race during the Malaysian MotoGP. He suffered cardiac arrests after the crash, and sustained injuries to his lungs and legs which required operations once he got to hospital.

The latest update from the Swiss rider reiterates that his condition continues to improve, now around six weeks on from his crash in Malaysia, having returned home to Switzerland in November.

In the video, the Swiss rider also thanks the people who have been around him during his recovery process so far, and teases his “future plans”, following the recent confirmation that he will not ride for the SIC58 Squadra Corse team next year.

“I wanted to make a quick video to show you that I am good, I am improving,” Dettwiler said in a video posted to Instagram on 11 December.

“It was a long time now in hospital and rehabilitation centre, and of course I still have quite a way to go for my full recovery.

“But everything is going well, is going to plan, and I am in good hands.

“A big thank you to my family, to my girlfriend, and my sister who were with me a lot during this time, this tough period; also a big thank you for all the messages, all the support that I got in the past weeks.

“All of this made me stronger and got me through this tough time.

“Now I wish you all merry Christmas, soon, happy holidays, happy new year soon, and I will tell you my future plans as soon as possible. See you all soon and have a great time.”
