Pedro Acosta overcame a 'dark start to the season' and claimed his first Sprint podium of the year

Gold & Goose

Pedro Acosta was back on a MotoGP Sprint Race podium for the first time since the 2024 Aragon Grand Prix.

It has been a difficult first half to the 2025 MotoGP World Championship for Pedro Acosta and the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team.

The Spaniard has been used to positive seasons since he entered the Grand Prix paddock. But across the first half of the season, Acosta had not featured on a Grand Prix or Sprint Race podium.

However, at the Czech Republic Grand Prix, he was able to return to the Sprint Race podium for the first time since the Aragon Grand Prix in 2024.

There was a chance that Acosta could have inherited the victory on Saturday, as Marc Marquez was under investigation for a tyre pressure penalty. But the results were not changed, and Acosta was officially confirmed to be in second place.

"This has been a season where we have struggled so much," Acosta said.

"Now I see all of these people celebrating. You know, it has been super tough, it has been the darkest beginning to a season of my life.

"Being on the podium again is super nice, thank you to all of KTM and everyone at home who is supporting me.

"This is for Borja Gomez, at the Sachsenring, it was not the race that I wanted to be able to dedicate to him. I think this is much better to dedicate to him."

Acosta has moved up the MotoGP World Championship from eighth place to seventh and has 108 points to his name, and achieved his best result of the season across the Sprint Races and Grand Prix.
