Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa may have to miss the next MotoGP round at Laguna Seca next weekend after he underwent an examination for suspected fractures of a fingers and ankle following a high-speed crash at the Sachsenring this afternoon.
Pedrosa was leading the German MotoGP race by a clear seven seconds when the front end of his RC212V let go on the main straight just before turn one. It looked like his front Michelin aquaplaned on some standing water and Pedrosa tumbled into the gravel.
The Spaniard said: "It was a little strange. I had only just touched the brake and I crashed. It was a real pity because I’d got a great start and was going well. I had a good feeling. The front felt perfect, the rear was sliding just a little, but the general feeling was good considering the track conditions. It is a real pity.”
He was given an initial examination by Doctor Costa at the Clinica Mobile who diagnosed a fractured finger on the left hand and an ankle injury. His participation in the Laguna round could well be in doubt as he will have to fly to Barcelona to get a full examination at the Clinca Dexeus.
