Poncharal hopeful of Assen return for Crutchlow

Monster Yamaha team boss Herve Poncharal is hopeful that Cal Crutchlow could be back on a MotoGP bike in time for the next round at Assen if Colin Edwards' recovery period is anything to go by.

Crutchlow broke his left collarbone on his third lap of qualifying at Silverstone and was taken to Oxford hospital for a precautionary CAT scan on his head due to a concussion but the doctors found nothing.

"Our luck seems to have completely deserted us at the moment when you think it was only eight days ago that Colin broke his right collarbone. I suppose the only small consolation for Cal is that Colin was back on the bike less than a week later, so we are optimistic that Cal will be back for the next race at Assen," said the Frenchman.

"Colin has produced a super human effort and his courage and determination has been an inspiration to everybody in the whole team. We can't be completely happy because of what happened to Cal and it was a big pity he couldn't race, but he is a fighter and we'll see him back stronger than ever soon.

"I know how much he wanted to ride in front of his home crowd, bu t he has seen what Colin has achieved so quickly after his collarbone injury, so hopefully this will be a good inspiration for him."
