Raul Fernandez's further involvement in the Portuguese Grand Prix is questionable, as he has been taken to the hospital.
In the opening MotoGP session of the weekend, Raul Fernandez suffered a big crash at Turn One, with 17 minutes remaining of the Free Practice One session.
The Spaniard came back to Europe after a successful run during the flyaway races, as he achieved two Sprint Race podiums and claimed his maiden Grand Prix victory at Phillip Island.
Fernandez had only completed 11 laps at the time of his Turn One crash, and at the end of the 45-minute session on Friday morning, found himself in 18th place.
However, his involvement in the remainder of the Portuguese Grand Prix is now questionable as he has been transferred to the local hospital for a CT scan.
A statement from the Trackhouse Racing squad regarding Fernandez's situation reads:
"After Raul's crash in Turn One, he had a check-up in the medical centre here and is being transferred to the local hospital now for a CT scan.
"We will know more later, and will keep you updated."
As it stands, Fernandez finds himself tenth in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship, with only two rounds remaining of the season.
The 25-year-old already has a deal in place for the 2026 MotoGP season with Trackhouse Racing, so the remainder of the season will not impact his future. However, he has been having his best year in the premier class and has been improving as the year has progressed.
