Redding feeling ‘no pressure’ ahead of Sepang MotoGP test

Go&Fun Honda Gresini’s Scott Redding is on his way to Spain for training, ahead of the MotoGP tests in Sepang in a few weeks time. But the Quedgeley rider is not feeling the pressure ahead of the sessions, and will be solely focused on his own progress and lap times.

The MotoGP rookie is nearly fully fit after breaking his wrist towards the end of the Moto2 season, where he finished second overall in the championship with his Marc VDS team, and the rider is no longer holding himself back.

“My wrist has recovered, I say I’m 90 percent fit, and my fitness training is going really well, and I have been doing a lot of cross-fit. I am just happy to be out doing stuff again, after holding myself back with my injury and not letting myself go makes a huge difference,” said Redding, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“I want to get the bike comfortable and how I want it, and to get more track time on the bike. I was still injured during the Valencia test, so I have scrapped that but testing wise I want to drop the lap time and do my own thing really and not worry about anyone else, and not worry about being quickest on the production bike. But I just want to be really focused and consistent and setting the bike up for race distance.

“I have got not no pressure, I am on a production racer, but I am racing against a couple of Brits, Michael Laverty and Leon Camier so we will see how it goes. My main target is to be going for Hayden and Espargaro so hopefully I can be there, but it will be a matter of time, so hopefully I can step things up and get on with it.”
