Remy Gardner, son of nails 1987 500cc World Champion Wayne, will make his Grand Prix debut this weekend when he replaces the injured Luca Grunwald in the Kiefer Racing Moto3 team.
Gardner was due to make his first foray into Moto3 as a wildcard at Phillip Island but got the call to stand-in for Grunwald at Misano.
“I wasn’t expecting to be on a GP bike this weekend to be honest, but it’s the perfect way to prepare for Phillip Island in October,” said Gardner.
“It’s always unfortunate when someone is injured and can’t compete, but I’m going to grab the opportunity with both hands and make the most of it. I’m hoping to learn as much as I can this weekend and it will be great experience for me. I’m not going to put any pressure on myself. So long as I know I’ve done my best I’ll be satisfied.”
