Rossi looking for top-speed boost from Yamaha in 2016

Nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi says he is looking for Yamaha’s MotoGP engineers to give him a top-speed boost for the 2016 season as it was the only place the YZR-M1 was lacking last year.

Speaking at this morning’s team launch in Barcelona, Rossi said he needed a bit more top end to try and negate the advantage Ducati showed but would also work on the spec electronics as history showed that this is where the most difference can be made.

"I think the way to ride with the Michelin is quite different compared to Bridgestone. There are a lot of small differences with the braking and the entry but also different type of lines and different way to open the throttle, so at the end the bike remain the same but the tyres change a lot. Every ride have to be fast to adapt to this situation,” said The Doctor, speaking in Span.

“About the bike, we will try to have a little more top speed on the straight because last year was the only place where we suffer and also the electronic is important as it change very much and we discover in the last ten years that if you have a little but better in the electronic system the difference is quite a lot. The rest is setting and weight distribution as we have to understand how to use the Michelin at the maximum.”
