Marlboro Ducati's Valentino Rossi has firmed up his no stance on travelling to the planned Motegi MotoGP round, saying that he is scared to go not because of the amounts of radiation but because the Fukushima plant itself is dangerous.
Rossi confirmed he thinks it is a bad idea to travel to the race, due to start on September 30, and he will make a final decision before this weekend's Misano round - which also happens to be his home race run jusyt up the road from Tavullia.
"For me it's not a good idea to go to Motegi to make a motorcycle race because it is dangerous especially as it is not far from the centre (Fukushima) and the centre is not under control. It's scary and I am scary to go," said The Doctor, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
"Also, all the people that come with me are very scary, my people, all the guys from Ducati, the mechanics, all my team, so I think it is not a good idea. I have to understand exactly the situation but I am not happy to go. Between here (Indy) and Misano I will say my position and I hope all the other riders will be agree with me.
"There is less pressure than from the other manufacturers but for a choice like this the pressure from outside is not the main problem. You have to be brave to take your decision and after see what happens. I want to speak with Casey and Jorge again as their position is important."
