Rossi to undergo fitness test before MotoGP Mugello

Nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi will be subject to a fitness test to determine whether he is up to taking part at this weekend’s Mugello MotoGP round - a scary proposition for any doctor on the eve of arguably MotoGP’s biggest race.

Although The Doctor’s participation is not in jeopardy, he will have to undergo the medical checks at the circuit to be declared fit. He is said to be recovering well so it seems that there won’t be any complications, although the next 48 hours are important.

Rossi crashed almost a week ago when riding motocross at the Cross Park Cavallara, which is  round 40 minutes from his ranch in Tavullia. The hit against the handlebars was big and once back at home, the 38-year-old Italian rider decided to go to hospital in Rimini for a medical check-up, where he was diagnosed with mild thoracic and abdominal trauma.

He remained in hospital for the night and further checks revealed that the pain was the result of slight liver and kidney lesions, fortunately with no further complications.

Released from the hospital he spent the weekend in absolute rest in Tavullia with mother Stefania and “his people” of the VR46 Academy. The priority has been recovery in time for the his appointment at Mugello - it is likely that he will not arrive in perfect shape.
