Andrea Dovizioso is breathing a sigh of relief at the second set of MotoGP Sepang tests after riding the brand-new Ducati GP15 for the first time and finding out that it turns properly.
The biggest thing the new bike had to escape was its predecessors’ chronic understeer and, by moving the engine away from the front wheel, among other things. it would appear that Gigi Dall’Igna has hit the mark.
“Today we didn’t make too many laps as the bike is competely new. We need some time to prepare everything and it started to rain in the middle of the day so we couldn’t try many setup and we need because the bike is new,” said Dovi, speaking at Sepang.
“We weren’t so strong in the braking so we need to try some setup. With the GP14.3 we knew exactly our best setup but this bike is different and we need time to work. I am really happy.
“The GP14.3 was strong but the main problem was the turning. The GP15 is turning really good. I am really happy about that and now we have to be strong in other area. At this moment, we are able to work in a normal way as when the bike turn like the competitors, I think you can adapt to your riding style.”
