Sergio Garcia will make his debut with the ITALJET Gresini Moto2 squad at the Portuguese Grand Prix.
Next weekend at the Portuguese Grand Prix, Sergio Garcia will be back on the Moto2 grid for the penultimate round of the 2025 season.
The Spaniard started the year with the QJMotor Frinsa - MSi squad, but parted ways with the team after the Aragon Grand Prix, due to his underwhelming results. He has since appeared as a replacement rider in the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP squad at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Garcia is once again being called upon by a Moto2 team, as they need a rider to come in and fill the boots of an injured rider.
The call this time has come from the ITALJET Gresini Moto2 squad, who have confirmed that Garcia will replace Darryn Binder for the final two rounds of the 2025 season.
Binder will sit out the Portuguese and Valencian Grand Prix due to 'severe pain' in his left ulna.
"The persistence of severe pain in his left ulna over the last few races will force Darryn Binder to undergo surgery in the coming days.
"The South African rider will therefore miss the final two rounds of the season and will be replaced by Sergio Garcia."
Garcia will continue working with the Gresini Moto2 squad for the 2026 season, as he has already put pen to paper with the squad for a full-time return to the Grand Prix paddock next year. He will ride alongside Alonso Lopez, who will leave the SpeedRS Team.
