Somkiat Chantra crashed while riding off-road and will miss the next Grand Prix weekends to undergo surgery on his right knee.
After suffering a knee injury during a training accident earlier this week, Somkiat Chantra will be forced to miss the next two MotoGP rounds at the Sachsenring and Brno.
Chantra, who scored his first premier-class point at Assen on Sunday, crashed while riding off-road on Tuesday and sustained damage to the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee.
The Thai rider will undergo surgery next Tuesday at Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona. This operation will put Chantra on the sidelines for the next two Grand Prix weekends.
The hope is that the #35 will be back on track after the summer break for the Austrian Grand Prix in August.
LCR Honda has not announced who will replace him in the LCR Honda IDEMITSU garage.
It is likely that either one of the HRC Test Riders, Aleix Espargaro or Takaaki Nakagami, will replace the injured rider as both riders have raced as wildcards and substitute riders this season in the Honda HRC Castrol garage.
