Factory Yamaha rider Ben Spies has joined the debate over whether it is a good idea to race at Twin-Ring Motegi this season, saying he doesn't quite believe all the media reports surrounding the Fukushima nuclear plant.
Spies reckons that the MotoGP circus shouldn't go piling into Japan because they need to have a race there, but should figure out if it the correct thing to do under the circumstances.
"If we go we go, if they think it's good, it's good, I'm not a scientist, I don't know what the hell is going on. I do know that whenever something like that does happen and I've related it to world war two, when you're getting feedback from the news and media that says it's not so bad if might not be horrible but it's worse than they say," said the Texan.
"I'm sure it's safe to go but is it perfect? If they say it's good to go, then I have no problem with it. If we go it needs to be right, not just because we have to go."
