Suzuki's return to MotoGP is more than likely going to be with a conventional inline four-cylinder bike rather than making a switch to something like Honda's 90° V4.
The factory see MotoGP as directly related to their road products – the straight four GSX-R1000 – instead of opting for a V4 or V5. It is not known yet when they will mate the chassis to the Marelli electronics they hope to do it in the autumn.
“We just start developing in the workshop and also for us, the hardware is also new, because we don't use Marelli before. The engine is a big bang. At this moment we are looking for which configuration is best for MotoGP, still we are researching this,” said Suzuki boss Satoru Terada, speaking to Bikesport News.
"Even MotoGP we see more related to production bike. At this moment, Suzuki didn't have a V4 bike, main bike is inline four, so more resembles a MotoGP bike. You hear the exhaust note, ut's not a screamer."
