Honda Test and Development rider, Takaaki Nakagami, will reportedly return to action next weekend at the Italian Grand Prix.
According to reports, Takaaki Nakagami will step into the Honda HRC Castrol squad at the Italian Grand Prix to replace the injured Luca Marini.
Autosport have reported that Takaaki Nakagami will deputise for the still recovering Luca Marini after his heavy crash at Suzuka.
The Italian rider was sidelined before the Aragon Grand Prix after he suffered a heavy crash at the Japanese circuit whilst testing for the iconic Suzuka 8 Hours.
Honda decided not to replace Marini at the Aragon Grand Prix, which left Joan Mir in the factory Honda garage on his own.
However, for the Italian Grand Prix, the factory Honda squad will need to replace Marini, so they have called upon their Test and Development rider.
The last time Honda called upon Nakagami was at the French Grand Prix when he did a wildcard at Le Mans. During his one-off wildcard, the Japanese rider finished in sixth place in the tricky conditions at the French circuit.
Nakagami has had success around the Mugello Circuit as he finished in fifth place at the Italian Grand Prix in 2019 when he raced for the LCR Honda IDEMITSU squad.
