Alex Marquez came back from crashing out of the lead in the Sprint Race to a dominant performance in the Grand Prix.
After a heartbreaking end to his Saturday Sprint Race, Alex Marquez bounced back on Sunday and controlled the Catalan Grand Prix.
The Spaniard was able to dominate the 24-lap race and held off his older brother, Marc Marquez. The younger Marquez brother also revealed that his crash in the Sprint Race was the 'best advice' for the Grand Prix.
"I am so happy, but the mistake from yesterday is still there," Alex Marquez told MotoGP.com
"But this was the best way to forget that, it is true that we made a mistake, which cost us a lot of points. But it was the best advice to not make the same mistake today.
"So, I was really concentrated, I don't think I made a mistake today, every lap I was on my lines. I was trying to manage my tyres in the best way, then with eight or nine laps to go, I decided to show that I had more left.
"I tried my best in that moment. I was back into the 1:42.2s. So, yeah, I am happy. Jerez was special, but this one with Marc on track is even more special.
"It is not easy to control Marc for 24 laps when he is behind you, but we did it in a really good way, so I am happy for that."
Alex Marquez had a clear advantage over the field in certain areas on tracks, and he revealed that in Sector Four, he felt llike he was 'fying'.
"Here it was sector four, in the last three right handers I was flying," he admitted.
"I don't like to say that, but I was flying in those corners, and I saw it on the data already for Qualifying, so I knew my speed there. But I had told myself that I needed to control my limit there.
"In that sector, I was feeling really good; the feeling with the bike was amazing. So, that is where I made the difference, but also in some braking points this weekend I was super strong and super fast."
