Brad Binder has highlighted where KTM are struggling after a disappointing Argentine Grand Prix.
The Argentine Grand Prix makes it two race weekends in a row where KTM have struggled to fight at the front.
In 2023 Brad Binder was able to win the MotoGP Sprint Race, but there was no sign of any race-winning pace from the South African this year.
Binder did not finish the Sprint Race after an incident with Franco Morbidelli, but on Sunday he was the top KTM rider with his seventh-place finish.
"Seventh place is really not what we were aiming for," Binder said after the Argentine Grand Prix.
"I only managed one lap in the warm-up, and that's why I felt a bit rusty at the beginning of the Grand Prix, but I was able to develop a good feel for the bike.
"I gave it my all and tried to ride consistently because I knew we would have problems with the rear wheel later in the race."
Rear tyre wear continues to hamper KTMs efforts:
Binder went into specifics on why he and his fellow KTM riders have been struggling so much at the start of the 2025 season.
As reported during pre-season the Austrian manufacturer has been dealing with severe rear tyre wear issues.
Binder has explained that when the KTM starts experiencing high levels of tyre wear they become 'much slower'.
"When the rear tyre wears down, our lap times become much slower," Binder stated.
"When that happened, I just tried to get the best out of it. I got everything out of it, so I still have to be satisfied!
"Hopefully, things will be easier for us at the next race in Austin and we can improve.
"We know pretty well what we need to improve. The window in which our bike performs well is too narrow. When there's little grip, we have huge problems.
"Hopefully, our people back home in Munderfing will find a way and develop an update for us to solve the problem."
