Pit Beirer has spoken about KTM's difficulties at the start of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship.
The start of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship has not been smooth sailing for KTM.
There were high expectations for the Austrian manufacturer ahead of this season with their expansion to four factory-specification bikes. The arrivals of Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini, as well as retaining Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder, led many to expect a solid year for KTM.
However, after two rounds KTM is fourth in the MotoGP Constructors Standings, behind Ducati, Honda and Aprilia.
Binder is the top KTM rider in the Riders Standings as he sits seventh, with a best result of seventh from the Argentine Grand Prix. The lack of results is frustrating the riders and the racing department back in Austria.
"Of course, we're anything but happy with how things started," KTM Racing Director Pit Beirer told Speedweek.com.
"The results speak for themselves. And that's despite the fact that we've clearly made progress. From a speed perspective, we were a good second faster per lap than at the last Argentine GP.
"The Q2 results also prove that the pace is there, but we're not able to maintain it over the distance.
"We are already working hard on solutions. In order to make immediate progress, we wanted to send the test team to the track in Jerez last week for an originally unplanned test.
"Unfortunately, we received a cancellation, the track is not yet ready for use after the recent flooding. Nevertheless, we are aware that it is up to us, and therefore we must now work even harder."
