Maverick Vinales believes there is 'great potential' ahead of him and KTM after a positive weekend at the TT Circuit Assen.
After three difficult race weekends, Maverick Vinales remained positive and returned to the top five at the TT Circuit Assen.
The Spaniard finished in fifth at the Dutch TT after experiencing severe rear tyre degradation with ten laps remaining.
"We are quite happy, I think we did a really positive weekend," Vinales told MotoGP.com.
"It seems that we have great potential in front of us, we have to keep working and keep positive and focused that we can do a great job.
"I felt quite good during all of the race, I had a really good feeling with the front. Just somehow I was not able to bring the rear to the end of the race.
"With ten laps to go, I felt a huge drop on the rear tyre, and I was not able to hit the good lap times to catch up to the front guys.
"However, I think we must be very positive; we were fighting through the pack, and a top five is a good reward."
Vinales has highlighted qualifying as his main weakness after starting the Dutch TT from tenth place on the grid.
"I was trying, I was trying very hard," he explained.
"But starting from tenth is always difficult. The challenge we have for the next race is the Qualifying; we are going to try to do a really good Qualifying.
"We want to put ourselves at the front, this is very important because then we will have the rhythm.
"At this track the rear tyre drops, so it would have been very hard to stay in the fight for the podium. But again we had a really good performance, I saw another KTM, which was fighting very hard."
With a good result under his belt, the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider wants to continue his momentum and is still in the hunt for his first podium and victory with the Austrian manufacturer.
"I think we need to carry on this momentum and carry on doing our job," he said.
"Obviously, we are hungry for that victory and that podium. But in any case, there is room to improve, and we need time.
"We are not trying to hide this, I need time to understand the bike, especially over one lap. So, I will have a really good challenge in Germany."
