'We've got to do better' - Jake Dixon reflects on a disappointing Czech Republic Grand Prix

Gold & Goose

Jake Dixon did not have the rhythm to make his way any further forward than 11th at the Automotodrom Brno.

After returning to the podium last week at the Sachsenring, hopes were high for Jake Dixon at the Czech Republic Grand Prix.

However, the British rider had a disappointing time on his return to the Automotodrom Brno.

Despite qualifying in seventh place on the grid, Dixon ran wide at Turn One and dropped back to 15th place.

Throughout the remainder of the race, he was able to climb up the order to 11th place, which is the third time this season that he has finished outside of the top ten in races that he has finished.

"It wasn’t an ideal day," Dixon said after the Czech Republic Grand Prix.

"At corner one I was out wide and from that point on it was difficult to come back. I was 14th or 15th on lap one.

"Honestly, I didn’t have the rhythm to go forward. Unfortunately, we made a small change to the setting today but it didn’t have the effect we hoped it would.

"We’ve got to do better. We’ve got to do better. That’s all I can say on that.

"I’m looking forward to having a few weeks off now when we can recharge the batteries before coming back with fresh energy in August."

Dixon has now dropped back in the Moto2 World Championship to fifth place with 119 points to his name, but is now 69 points behind Manuel Gonzalez.

The MotoGP paddock now enters its summer break and will not be back in action until the Austrian Grand Prix between the 15th and 17th of August.

Dixon has had reasonable success in Austria and at the Red Bull Ring as he has two podiums to his name at the circuit across the last three seasons.
