Yamaha's Managing Director has announced a new timeline for when Toprak Razgatlioglu's first MotoGP teammate will be announced.
The MotoGP silly season has been kicked into life in recent weeks with the bombshell news of Jorge Martin leaving Aprilia and the arrival of Toprak Razgatlioglu to Pramac Yamaha.
With Razgatlioglu's arrival in the Pramac Yamaha squad, it appeared it would be a simple decision on who would be his first MotoGP teammate.
The current Pramac Yamaha line-up features Jack Miller on a one-year deal that expires at the end of the 2025 season, and Miguel Oliveira on a two-year deal that expires at the end of 2026.
However, in recent weeks, it has been reported that Oliveira's two-year deal with the team will be cut short after a single season.
These latest rumours have caused debate over who will be the second rider in the Pramac Yamaha garage in 2026.
The Yamaha Managing Director, Paolo Pavesio, was on site at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli to discuss the arrival of Razgatlioglu and who could be his teammate next year.
"We know that Toprak's choice will have consequences for Yamaha," Pavesio told the media at the Emilia-Romagna World Superbike Round.
"We will do all the evaluations we need to arrive at the best decision... Before the summer break, you will know the name."
Who are the two main options?
The two main options for Pramac Yamaha still appear to be Miller and Oliveira, but as it stands, the Australian appears to be the favourite of the two.
Despite having a two-year deal, Oliveira has struggled with injuries since arriving in the Yamaha camp and has only scored three points across five race weekends. This lack of top-end performance put the Portuguese rider in 23rd place in the standings.
Miller, on the other hand, is 16th in the Championship, but has shown strong results throughout the year. The 30-year-old has featured inside the top ten on three occasions, twice in Grand Prix races and once in the Sprint Race.
