During the Aragon Test, new bikes were tested by the factory Yamaha riders. However, they did not get to experience the new V4 engine as Yamaha does not believe it is the right time to fully evaluate it.

Yamaha's Sporting Director, Maio Meregalli, announced the intention of testing the 'new bike' at the Barcelona Test, where Augusto Fernandez and Andrea Dovizioso will be present.

"From here we will move to Barcelona with the test team and the Pramac team," Meregalli told MotoGP.com after the Aragon Test.

"The testing team will be busy developing both the current bike and the new bike. For the majority, we did a fashionality test with the new bike, we are not in the moment to evaluate the performance.

"The factory riders will test this new bike when we believe the performance is good enough for them to feel and understand."

He went on to confirm that the test team trialling the V4 engine will be former Moto2 World Champion, Fernandez, and 15-time MotoGP race winner, Dovizioso.

"Correct, Augusto [Fernandez] and [Andrea] Dovizioso [will test the bike]."

Meregalli reviews Yamaha's time at MotorLand Aragon:

The Italian then went on to discuss Yamaha's entire weekend and test at Aragon, he believes this weekend shows that Yamaha has made improvements.

"It is always important to test," Meregalli said when discussing Yamaha's entire weekend in Aragon..

"You do not have enough time for testing anywhere. But in general, if you see the final race results, for sure we cannot say they were positive, but if you compare to last year, we finished the race with a gap of 39 seconds.

"Yesterday [Sunday], the gap was 19, also with the fastest lap, the gap last year was 1.3 seconds, this year it was four tenths. This is how we are monitoring the improvements of the bike; also, today [Monday], Fabio did a really good lap time.

"On Friday, we really struggled. Saturday, we jumped into Q2, and then we started the race from the third row. This is a good way to work."
