The Greatest Race on Earth is set to be the name of a new docuseries about the Isle of Man TT, which is also the subject of a new Hollywood feature film.
Box To Box Films, the production company behind the F1 Drive to Survive Netflix series, is producing The Greatest Race on Earth using stories captured at the 2024 Isle of Man TT, which began with its opening practice on Monday.

“There is no greater example than Drive to Survive,” of the success of sports documentaries, the Isle of Man TT says. DTS is credited with being a major factor in F1’s US growth, with the championship now having three races in the US and with its US Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas attracting up to 400,000 fans in the last couple of years.
James Gay-Rees, co-founder of Box To Box Films and producer on feature films such as Senna and Diego Maradona, said of the new TT documentary: "It’s a great privilege to be working with these partners on this extremely unique project. The Isle of Man TT is one of the most visceral, exhilarating and unusual events in the motorsport diary. We can’t wait to bring this incredible world to new audiences.”
Hollywood star Channing Tatum was on the Isle of Man in 2023 for the TT, and his Free Association is also involved in the production of the documentary, as well as an as-yet-unnamed feature film about the event. Brad Pitt’s Plan B is also involved.
Free Association principals - Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin and Peter Kienan - are equally enthusiastic about the project; having travelled to the island to witness first-hand last year’s incredible record-breaking races. “We dare anyone to find more awe-inspiring people, or a more breathtakingly vibrant world than the Isle of Man TT Races,” they said.
“We’ve always been drawn to characters who push the edge of what’s possible, and this race is their Shangri-La. We’re deeply honoured to be part of the creative dream team telling the story of this legendary event, and can’t wait to share it with audiences all across the globe.”
The feature film is expected to be taken to market later this year, while the docuseries is expected to air in 2025.
The 2024 Isle of Man TT continues with practice this week, before the first races this weekend, and runs through until 8 June.
