During a preseason test at the Circuit Andalucia in southern Spain, Nathan Harrison sustained an injury to his left ankle, which is now set to be operated on.
Honda Racing UK says that the injury to Harrison's left ankle, which is the same ankle the Manxman had reconstructive surgery on, was only a sprain, but that, because of the previous damage and work done on that ankle, it was decided that Harrison should have surgery after a medical check in the UK following the test.
Honda Racing UK says that it does not expect the injury or the surgery to affect Harrison's season.
The full statement from Honda Racing UK reads as follows:
"During private preseason testing at the Circuit de Andalucia, Honda Racing UK rider Nathan Harrison was involved in an incident whereby he crashed his motorcycle, resulting in a sprained left ankle. The ankle that, due to previous injuries, he has had reconstructive operations conducted on previously.
"A precautionary check was undertaken on his return to the UK to confirm the diagnosis. On medical inspection, it was decided that he will undergo a small operation to release the swelling and increase the speed at which he can recover.
"It is expected that Nathan will make a full recovery and this will likely have no impact on his upcoming season."
