Alvaro Bautista has made his ideas surrounding his future very clear ahead of the third round of the season.
Ahead of the Dutch World Superbike Round, Alvaro Bautista was questioned about his future in the World Superbike paddock.
In previous years, the Spaniard had signed a new deal early on in the season. However, there has been no talk surrounding an extension with Ducati, as his teammate Nicolo Bulega has stolen the headlines.
But the two-time World Superbike Champion has made it very clear that he wants to remain with Ducati for 2026 before 'going home'.
"At the moment I am not thinking about my future," Bautista admitted to WorldSBK.com.
"It is true that now I am recovering my confidence, and I feel strong. In fact, at Portimao, when I finished in third, our performance was close to previous years when I was at the top.
"So, we are recovering that feeling, which is the important thing at the moment. I feel strong, I feel good on the bike, and I feel I can improve.
"Next year, Ducati will bring the new model, and I’d like to race with that bike. I started in Superbikes with the new Panigale V4, I would not like to go home without racing with the new model."
Bautista currently sits fourth in the World Superbike standings and is 52 points behind his teammate, who is leading the Championship.
The 40-year-old has not won a race so far this season but has featured on four podiums throughout the opening six races.
The only issue with Bautista in recent years is his tendency to slip into silly mistakes and crash from positive positions.
Despite his determination to remain with the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team for 2026, his future will be in the hands of the Italian manufacturer.
