Could Tarran Mackenzie make his WorldSBK return this weekend?

Gold & Goose

Reports suggest that Tarran Mackenzie could be back in World Superbikes as soon as this weekend.

Tarran Mackenzie was on the sidelines for the United Kingdom World Superbike Round after parting ways with the Petronas MIE Racing Honda squad.

The British rider had been with the squad across World Supersport and World Superbikes for two and a half years. However, after a difficult run across the first half of the 2025 season, Mackenzie and the team decided to split.

However, after rumours that he could return to British Superbikes, the latest reports from Speedweek.com suggest that he will remain in World Superbikes.

The German media outlet has claimed that Scott Redding and the MGM Bonovo squad will part ways ahead of the Hungarian World Superbike Round, and Mackenzie will take his place.

In this scenario, the 2021 British Superbike Champion would make the switch from the Honda CBR1000RR-R to the Ducati Panigale V4 R, a machine he has not ridden before.

Mackenzie would face a baptism of fire with a new team, machine, and circuit at the Balaton Park Circuit this weekend, if the reports are true.

After competing in six of the seven World Superbike rounds this season, Mackenzie finds himself 21st in the Championship standings.

Throughout the 18 races that he competed in, Mackenzie had a best result of ninth place in the Superpole Race at Assen.
