Danilo Petrucci and BMW are in talks over a deal for 2026

Gold & Goose

Danilo Petrucci has become the main target for BMW as they continue their search for a Toprak Razgatlioglu replacement.

Since entering the World Superbike paddock, Danilo Petrucci has been competing for the Barni Spark Racing Team.

However, it appears that the Italian rider and Italian team may part ways at the end of the 2025 season.

During their time together, Petrucci has won three races on the Ducati Panigale V4 R, and has featured on 16 further podiums.

But a factory World Superbike offer could be enough to draw Petrucci away from Ducati for his fourth year in the Superbike paddock.

It has been reported by GPOne that Petrucci is wanted by the BMW bosses, and that the German manufacturer has already held conversations with Petrucci's manager, Alberto Vergani.

The Italian rider has been offered a contract extension by the Barni Spark Racing Team, but Petrucci and Vergani have been assessing what is the best situation for the 34-year-old.

According to further rumours from inside the paddock, Marco Barnabo, the Barni Spark Racing Team owner, is becoming impatient and wants an answer from Petrucci this weekend at the Balaton Park Circuit.

Barnabo, Petrucci and Vergani are supposedly set to hold a meeting together at some point across the weekend to see which direction Petrucci's future will go.

It is clear why the Italian is wanted by BMW as they will lose Toprak Razgatlioglu at the end of the season, and may also part ways with Michael van der Mark.

Petrucci is currently third in the 2025 World Superbike Championship with 209 points to his name and a best result of third, which he has achieved seven times.
