Dominique Aegerter has been declared unfit for the Spanish World Superbike Round

Gold & Goose

Dominique Aegerter's time in the World Superbike Championship has likely come to an end after being declared unfit.

It has been confirmed by the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team that Dominique Aegerter has been declared unfit for the final round of the 2025 season.

After fracturing the fifth metacarpal in his right hand, the Swiss rider missed the Estoril World Superbike Round last week. But after undergoing surgery, he was hopeful he would return to racing action this weekend for the Spanish World Superbike Round.

However, he has once again been declared unfit, bringing a premature end to his season and potentially his time in the World Superbike Championship.

It has been confirmed by the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team that they will field two riders, as Alessandro Delbianco will join Remy Gardner for the season finale.

Aegerter currently finds himself 13th in the World Superbike Championship, a position that could change come the end of the race weekend at Jerez. But the more important matter for the Swiss rider is that he does not have a ride for the 2026 World Superbike season, and will likely return to World Supersport.

The two-time World Supersport Champion has spent three years in the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team garage and has secured two podium finishes on the Yamaha R1. But it looks likely that next season he will be riding a Kawasaki ZX-6R in the World Supersport Championship.

Paddock rumours at the Estoril World Superbike Round suggested that the 35-year-old had agreed a deal with the Puccetti Racing team to ride for their Kawasaki WorldSSP Team next season.

If the reports are correct, Aegerter's last race in the World Superbike Championship with the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team came at MotorLand Aragon.
