Toprak Razgatlioglu has been second best to Alvaro Bautista throughout the 2023 WorldSBK season. However, Donington Park has been a track where the Turkish rider has had success in the past.
Toprak Razgatlioglu has only won a single race so far this season but has stood on the podium a further 13 times throughout the 15 races so far this season. The Yamaha rider is second in the Championship, but is 86 points behind Alvaro Bautista.
During his World Superbike career Razgatliloglu has won five times at Donington Park and has stood on the podium a further three times, it was also the track where he claimed his first WorldSBK podium.
"I have very good memories in the UK – my first podiums and then last year we won all three races with Yamaha!" said Razgatlioglu ahead of the British round of the WorldSBK season.
"We will see what is possible this weekend, maybe with new asphalt we have more grip and there is a good chance to win – I hope. I need wins in Race 1 and Race 2, not just Superpole Race!
"It is more a ‘real’ win in the full race, I am just focused on this. We know Ducati will still be strong but I hope we are winning in Donington Park."
Last year Razgatlioglu and Yamaha won all three of the WorldSBK races at Donington Park, a repeat of these results would put the pressure back onto Bautista and Ducati.
