Ducati can 'wait for the best opportunity' when picking Bautista's teammate for 2024

After Ducati took a hat-trick of victories at home in Misano in the fifth round of the WorldSBK Championship Gigi Dall'Igna played down the idea of discussing who would partner Alvaro Bautista next season

Currently Ducati are keeping their cards close to their chest when it comes to who will be on the second Aruba.it Ducati bike in 2024. The reigning World Superbike Champion, Alvaro Bautista, will stay on with the Bologna factory for next season but it is currently a mystery who will partner him.

Ducati have a range of talent in WorldSBK from Michael Ruben Rinaldi to Nicolo Bulega. There are four riders who are in the World Superbike paddock at the moment who have been rumoured to become Bautista's teammate and there are also some riders from MotoGP who have been linked to the seat also.

Even after Bautista won all three races in Misano and Rinaldi and Axel Bassani took podium positions also Gigi Dall'Igna still would not budge when asked about who would partner the dominant Spaniard next year.

"Its is not the time to speak about the second seat for our team. With Alvaro with us we have time to take the proper decision and wait a little bit more to understand which is the best opportunity for us," Dall'Igna told WorldSBK.com

"I am really, really happy with all the riders at the moment who ride Ducati. Here yesterday Michael did a fantastic job.

"So, we have to wait. It is the best, not only for us, but for the riders who want to ride for us."

Ducati are currently enjoying strong form in both WorldSBK and MotoGP as they lead both Championships. Ducati's main man in World Superbikes, Bautista, leads the way by 86 points over Toprak Razgatliolgu and Ducati themselves lead the Constructors Championship by 75 points over Yamaha.
