'He is the right choice' - Ducati boss discusses signing Iker Lecuona

Gold & Goose

Aruba.it Racing - Ducati Team Manager, Serafino Foti, has labelled Iker Lecuona as 'the right choice' for his team.

Iker Lecuona may have missed the Aragon World Superbike Test due to injuries, but the Spaniard was a major talking point across the two days.

Ahead of the test, the Spaniard was announced as an Aruba.it Racing - Ducati rider for the 2026 World Superbike season, as he is set to leave the factory Honda squad at the end of the season.

After the test, the Team Manager at Aruba.it Racing - Ducati, Serafino Foti, spoke about the decision to sign Iker Lecuona for his team over other riders that had offered themselves to the team.

"Right now, I can't say more about Lecuona's contract," Foti said after the Aragon Test to GPOne.com.

"I'm doing it out of respect for Iker and, at the same time, for who he represents. The only thing I can say is that we are happy to have taken on Lecuona.

"He is a young, strong rider. I think he's the right choice and the best of those that were possible. I can't add more."

Ahead of his final four World Superbike rounds as a factory Honda rider, Lecuona finds himself ninth in the Championship after missing six races due to injury this season.
