Toprak Razgatlioglu has slammed the new World Superbike rules that he feels have made his BMW uncompetitive for the 2025 season.
Toprak Razgatlioglu ended Day One at Phillip Island in fifth place on the timesheets. From the outside, it may look promising for the Turkish rider, but he made it clear that he is not happy with his current situation.
The reigning World Champion crashed during Free Practice One at Turn Four, but he has been left confused by the crash as he does not understand why it happened.
"My hand is ok, when I saw that I was going to crash I jumped from the bike," Razgatlioglu told WorldSBK.com.
"My hand and my finger are very important to me as we have three races here. What happened was the engine braking released there, I don't understand why and I lost the front immediately.
"We will keep working and try to find some setup for the race, but that is not easy because of the hot conditions."
Was Toprak Razgatlioglu happy with his first day at Phillip Island?
When asked if he was happy after his first day of Practice, Razgatlioglu made it clear that he was nowhere near happy.
"I am not happy because the bike is not working, I am not fast like last year," Razgatlioglu stated.
"Last year we were faster than this year, and the bike is now not working. After we changed the chassis the bike is now changing, not turning, not stopping, no grip, everything has changed.
"I hope we find something to fight for the top five because it is not possible for the top three. It is going very badly, after the new rules I hope everyone is very happy, all the Ducati's are at the front. The brands are not fighting and the BMWs are getting worse.
"We will try our best every session, I always ride at my limit, I crashed today and almost crashed again at the end of today.
"We will see tomorrow was a very hard day for me, tomorrow we will try again and try to improve something."
