Despite rumours linking him to Ducati for 2026, Jonathan Rea remains focused on the upcoming rounds with Yamaha.
Jonathan Rea's time with the Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team has not been as successful as it was originally projected to be.
During the year and a half that Rea has spent with the factory Yamaha team, he has only featured on the podium on one occasion.
This has led to rumours suggesting that the six-time World Champion will leave the Japanese manufacturer at the end of the 2025 season.
One of the latest rumours going around the paddock suggests that Rea could end up riding for a Ducati team next season.
The 38-year-old was asked about these rumours at Donington Park. However, he insisted that he is currently focused on his job with Yamaha.
"Prefer not to talk about me and Ducati, if you like," Rea told our colleagues at Crash.net before the United Kingdom World Superbike Round.
"Right now, I’m just focused on this weekend and Balaton as well. I’ve made it clear that I want to try.
"Fortunately or unfortunately, I’m only three rounds into my championship, but it’s halfway through the season, and it’s been tough.
"I need to go out and do a really good job here, Balaton, and then worry about my future and what that looks like, and how I can see myself.
"But I’m not thinking about anything else right now other than trying to maximise my potential and the bike."
He added: "You can see with Loka [Andrea Locatelli]. Okay, Assen was Assen, and he won a race. But, generally, he’s fighting for the podium and he’s further up the road than I’ve been.
"I haven’t had the best crack at it, but that’s the reference right now at Yamaha and I need to try to arrive there."
After seven rounds of the 2025 World Superbike Championship, Jonathan Rea finds himself in 18th in the standings with 32 points and a best result of fifth place to his name, which occurred at Donington Park.
