Andrea Iannone does not want to make up the numbers on the 2026 World Superbike grid and wants to 'write history'.
Although Andrea Iannone had stated he would remain on the World Superbike grid next season, he has now admitted he does not have anything signed for 2026.
The World Superbike season finale this weekend at Jerez will be Iannone's final race weekend with the Team Pata GoEleven squad, who have signed Lorenzo Baldassarri for the 2026 season.
Iannone still believes he will be on the World Superbike grid next season, but he does not want to make up the numbers in 2026, and instead wants to 'write history'.
"I have an ambition for something I want and something that’s good for me because I don’t have time to lose," Andrea Iannone told WorldSBK.com ahead of the final round of 2025.
"I’m not young, I’m not starting now. For sure, I need to concrete my experience, my talent, my everything, and in case I don’t have the situation like this, there’s no sense to continue because I [don’t want to make up the numbers] for World Superbike, but I want to write history.
"We focus on this and we try to achieve."
Iannone went on to add: "It is a special one for sure, in this moment we close this door, but never say never for the future.
"But at this moment, it is like this. I don't have anything sure for next year, but we have some chance, and are evaluating what is best for us.
"In any case, I am focused on riding really well here this weekend, and I want to think only on this race, the last race, and stop."
