After winning the 2024 World Superbike Championship, Toprak Razgatlioglu's confidence is high for 2025.
Toprak Razgatliolgu was present at EICMA for the unveiling of the 2025 BMW M1000RR. At the event in Milan, he spoke to WorldSBK.com about the 2024 season and his targets for 2025.
The Turkish rider was asked how it felt to win the title for a second time and what were the parties like back home when he returned from Spain.
"In Turkey, many people came to celebrate," Razgatlioglu explained. "There were people at the airport and we had an incredible celebration. Now I am getting famous I understand this because many people know me. When I go to Istanbul or I am in traffic people recognise me, which is very nice. I am very happy because everyone supports me so it is very nice."
Razgatlioglu was asked about what is new on the BMW for the 2025 World Superbike season. The only thing that Razgatlioglu could confirm is that he will use the #1 plate again next season. But on the technical side, he does not know too much about the bike as he has not tested it yet.
"First thing is I will be using the number one again, which is nice," Razgatlioglu stated. "The new bike I have not tested because in Aragon the weather was difficult so we cancelled the test. The standard bike is amazing, but I don't know about the race bike. We will have a test but I don't know when I have seen pictures and it looks like the bike is beautiful. But I need to understand the bike first to understand."
'I won 13 races in a row in 2024. I need to break the record again next year.'
In the final race of the 2024 season, Razgatlioglu and Michael van der Mark shared the podium for the first time as teammates. The Turkish rider won the final race of the season with the Dutchman in third. Razgatlioglu hopes that they will share many more podiums together in 2025.
Razgatlioglu said: "This is the dream with Mikey (van der Mark) because we always say that we hope to share the podium together. Finally, at the last race, we did, this is incredible for the team. I hope we continue like this for next year because we improved and he improved. We have a good package and we work well together, I hope we share many podiums together."
Finally, Razgatlioglu set himself a target for the 2025 World Superbike season. In usual Razgatlioglu style the two-time Champion wants to break his record of the most consecutive race wins.
"What is next for me? I won 13 races in a row in 2024, I need to break the record again next year," Razgatligolu stated. "This is a good target and it is a very strong target but I will try my best again."
