'Maybe one day' we will see Andrea Iannone in World Superbikes

Former MotoGP rider, Andrea Iannone, is close to being allowed to return to racing and has stated his interest in joining World Superbikes in 2024.

Andrea Iannone became a MotoGP star for Ducati when he took their first race win since Casey Stoner. But ever since those days 'The Maniacs' career has gone downhill. After picking up four podiums with Suzuki in two years and after struggling with Aprilia Iannone was banned from motorbike racing after violating an anti-doping rule.

However, come the 17th of December 2023 Iannone's ban will have been served and he will be allowed to race once again.

Iannone was interviewed by WorldSBK.com on the weekend, after he was seen speaking to his former boss, Davide Tardozzi. In the interview Iannone gave his opinions on WorldSBK and stated his interest in competing in the Championship.

"The level of WorldSBK has grown a lot and I find it a very interesting Championship!" said Iannone when questioned about World Superbikes.

"It's true that I tried the road version of the Ducati Panigale V4 R at Misano and I really liked it. Being able to race in WorldSBK in 2024 would be very nice. We'll see!

“WorldSBK is really amazing, everybody is close and it’s exciting! In any case, I look to the future. Maybe one day, it’s possible that I come back here!”
