Xavi Vierge has no deal on the table for the 2026 World Superbike season, as he begins discussions with new teams.
During the World Superbike summer break, it was announced that Team HRC Honda would not retain Iker Lecuona for 2026 as he has signed for Aruba.it Racing - Ducati.
However, where does this leave Xavi Vierge, who is the top Honda rider in the 2025 World Superbike Championship?
The Spaniard has revealed that he had a clause with Honda to remain with the manufacturer for 2026, but the timeline on his clause has now expired, so he can begin negotiations with new teams.
"That is the question," Vierge told WorldSBK.com.
"We know the speed of Iker [Lecuona], and since we arrived here, we have been battling together every year. Right now, I am the best Honda rider, and the reality right now is that my future is still open.
"I had a clause with Honda, but this clause has now gone. They are very happy with me, but for some reason, they still need time. Of course, I do not have much more time, so now I am free to speak to other manufacturers and teams.
"So, I hope in the coming weeks I will be able to close my future."
The 28-year-old is determined to remain in the World Superbike Championship for a fifth season, but is keeping his options open incase he does not get a chance to remain where he is.
"Of course my goal is to stay here," he admitted.
"I know my potential, and I feel that I need to be here to demonstrate my speed. But I am also listening to other things, just in case."
