With five rounds left of the World Superbike Championship Toprak Razgatlioglu is not yet focused on the Championship.
At Portimao, Toprak Razgatlioglu extended his winning streak to 13 wins in a row, this is a new World Superbike record. Razgatlioglu also claimed his 54th WorldSBK race win this weekend, meaning he has the fourth most wins in the Championships history.
After another dominant weekend of winning all three races, Razgatlioglu was understandably overjoyed by his performances and results at Portimao.
"An incredible weekend for me," Razgatlioglu said after Race Two. "We broke the record with 13 wins, and now 54 Superbike wins in my career. I was really fighting in the last race with Bulega and Bautista but in general I am really happy."
When asked what holding the record for the most consecutive WorldSBK victories means to him Razgatlioglu explained that it makes him feel like a 'legend'.
"For me, it is very special. Every day we are becoming more like a legend. Every race weekend, especially with BMW, we are on another level. I hope in Magny-Cours we can win again because I don't know when this winning streak will end. I know the feeling on the bike is good, I am pushing for wins and I am fighting for wins."
The final race of the weekend was not a walk in the park for the Turkish rider. Whilst passing Alex Lowes he lost his left wing on his BMW. Razgatlioglu immediately noticed the difference and struggled to beat the two Aruba.it Racing - Ducati riders.
"When I finished the race I saw the wing on the left side was broken," Razgatlioglu explained. "The bike was not turning the same, especially in the last sector. It was unbelievable I was losing a lot of time there, I was almost losing half a second. On the last lap, I needed to give more than 100% because of how much I was losing. My plan worked and I won again, it was not an easy race, but we did an incredible job this weekend."
Finally, Razgatlioglu was asked about his 92-point lead in the Championship. As usual, the Turkish rider admitted that his focus is not on the Championship yet, instead, he is just focused on extending his winning streak.
"It is looking good but I am not focused there," Razgatlioglu concluded before adding, "I am just focused on winning. If the winning finishes at Magny-Cours then I am focused on the Championship."
