Ryan Vickers “going to grab this opportunity with both hands” at Misano WorldSBK

Gold and Goose

This weekend’s Misano WorldSBK round (12–14 June) will see Ryan Vickers get his second outing of the season in the world championship, this time replacing Jake Dixon.

Vickers also rode at the opening round at Phillip Island as a wildcard, picking up a point in Race 1.

It was just a few days before Vickers’ wildcard that Dixon suffered fractures in his left wrist during testing. The British rider missed the opening five rounds of the season as he recovered, finally getting his first race as a WorldSBK rider under his belt at Aragon two weeks ago.

However, Dixon skipped the two Sunday races at MotorLand, and will not ride this weekend at Misano, either, bringing Vickers his second opportunity to compete in the world championship this year.

“I'm really, really excited and thankful to Honda HRC for giving me the call-up for Misano this weekend,” said Ryan Vickers.

“Obviously, replacing Jake Dixon is never a nice situation because it means somebody is injured, and I wish him all the best with his recovery.

“But I'm going to grab this opportunity with both hands.

“I did a one-day test with the factory Honda HRC team at Jerez at the end of 2025, and I got on really well with the crew and had a great time. So, I'm delighted to have this chance.

“To be riding for Honda HRC is a dream, and to do it at one of my favourite circuits makes it even more special.

“I'm looking forward to the weekend and looking forward to getting on the bike and trying to do the best job we can.

“The team looked like they had a promising test here recently, so hopefully we can start from a good base and build through the weekend from FP1 onwards, to hopefully achieve some good results.”
