Sam Lowes will not be able to compete in the final three races of the 2025 World Superbike Championship.
After being evaluated after the World Superbike Superpole session, Sam Lowes has been declared unfit for the remainder of the Spanish World Superbike Round at Jerez.
The British rider was declared fit on Thursday ahead of the final round of the 2025 World Superbike season, but like the Estoril World Superbike Round, he is now not able to participate in any of the races.
Lowes had completed all three Free Practice sessions across Friday and Saturday, and was able to qualify on the front row of the grid in the Superpole session. However, due to chest contusions, he is unable to end his second season in the World Superbike Championship on track.
Sam and his twin brother Alex had been fighting for sixth place in the World Superbike Championship and had qualified third and fourth for the opening Race and Superpole Race at Jerez.
However, now that Sam has been declared unfit, his brother and the bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team will almost certainly claim sixth in the standings.
Lowes dealt with several injury woes during his rookie World Superbike season in 2024, but had been having a strong second year in the series throughout 2025.
The 35-year-old has featured on five podiums throughout the season, but missing the final six races of the season has cost him dearly in the 2025 World Superbike Championship.
Lowes will return for a third season in the series with the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team in 2026, but it is now unknown whether he will test on Tuesday and Wednesday at Jerez.
