Surgery completed “without complications” for Jake Dixon after WorldSBK test crash

Gold and Goose

Honda HRC rider Jake Dixon has undergone surgery on his broken left wrist, following his crash at the Phillip Island WorldSBK test.

Dixon high-sided at turn 11 on Tuesday’s (17 February) second day of the Phillip Island WorldSBK test, the same corner that Jonathan Rea crashed at twice in 2024, once during the preseason test and once during the race weekend.

Dixon was evaluated in the medical centre after the crash and diagnosed with a broken left wrist as well as a left elbow contusion. He was subsequently taken to hospital in Melbourne where he has now undergone surgery on his left wrist and hand, as confirmed in a statement from Honda published early on Friday morning (20 February).

“Honda HRC rider Jake Dixon has successfully undergone surgery at The Avenue Hospital in Melbourne (Australia) to treat multiple fractures to his left wrist and hand, sustained in a crash last Tuesday during the second day of the official WorldSBK testing at Phillip Island,” reads the statement.

“Following an initial medical assessment at the circuit, Dixon was transported to Melbourne, where further examinations confirmed the need for surgical intervention to stabilise the fractures.

“The procedure was completed successfully without complications. Further assessment in the coming weeks will help to clarify the timeline for Dixon’s recovery.

“The Honda HRC team will provide further updates on Jake Dixon’s condition in due course.”

Dixon’s absence from the Australian WorldSBK this weekend leaves only Tetsuta Nagashima and Ryan Vickers at Phillip Island for Honda. They finished Friday 0.007 seconds apart in Vickers’ favour, the British rider 16th while Nagashima took 17th.
