'We will understand more in the summer' - Jonathan Rea gives an update on 2026 negotiations

Gold & Goose

Jonathan Rea has revealed he has 'options' for the 2026 season and may know more about his future after the summer break.

In recent months, there have been many rumours surrounding the future of Jonathan Rea and who he will ride for in 2026.

After a rather unsuccessful two-year stint with the factory Yamaha World Superbike team, it seems the six-time World Superbike Champion will move to pastures new.

The latest reports have suggested that Rea could end up on a Ducati Panigale V4 R next season, but it seems more likely that he will be in an independent team rather than the factory squad.

Rea has been connected to the Team Pata GoEleven squad, depending on the future relationship between Andrea Iannone and the Italian team.

"I see the same things I'm not stupid," Rea told WorldSBK.com ahead of the Hungarian World Superbike Round.

"I'm on social media and Instagram; it's a platform that gives everybody an opinion. So, let's wait and see.

"I'm focused on the weekend and trying to do a really good job. I'm sure we will understand more in the summer break."

Rea was asked whether he would have signed a deal by the end of the summer break, to which the 38-year-old stated he may not put pen to paper until after the break, but he does have options for 2026.

"Or later, you know, I have some options, let's say," he added.

"But it is taking the right one, and for me to understand what is best for me. So, yeah, step by step."

Heading into the eighth round of the 2025 World Superbike Championship, Rea finds himself 18th in the standings after missing the first three rounds of the season.

Since his return at Cremona in May, Rea has scored 32 points and has a best result of fifth place to his name, which he picked up last time out at Donington Park.
