Alvaro Bautista's time with the factory Ducati squad is coming to an end, but his time with Ducati may not be over.
There have been several rumours surrounding the future of two-time World Superbike Champion, Alvaro Bautista.
It has been revealed that the Spaniard will not remain with the factory Ducati squad for the 2026 season and will have to find a new home.
Bautista has confirmed that he is speaking to several manufacturers about a ride for next year, but he also admitted that the door with Ducati is not closed.
This latest piece of news from the 40-year-old suggests that he may be searching for a satellite ride for the 2026 campaign.
"I am free, I have no contract," Bautista told WorldSBK.com
"We are speaking to some manufacturers, but there is nothing on the table. I am not worried about that, I am staying focused on myself, the present, and I am trying to enjoy the bike.
"I think I can be calm because my performance is good, so I think if you are fast and precise and perform well on track you have more options to race next year."
He added: "Fortunately, there are a lot of bikes free for next year, so I am not worried about that. The problem I have is that I have to add seven kilos to the bike to race.
"So with manufacturers, they cannot use the standard bike; they have to add six or seven kilos, so this is a big problem. It would be important if we went back to the normal regulation, because this rule has been unfair for light riders or small riders.
"But there are a lot of free bikes, and for sure, with Ducati, the door is not closed."
Ahead of the seventh round of the 2025 World Superbike Championship, Bautista finds himself fourth in the Championship with ten podiums and 172 points to his name.
