WorldSSP Catalunya FP2 Results | Bulega claims top spot at the end of Day One

After finishing third in the opening session of the day Nicolo Bulega upped the pace in the final session of the opening day and claimed his usual position of first place.

The Aruba.it Racing World Supersport rider currently leads the Championship standings after six races and will be looking to extend his lead this weekend. After the opening two practice sessions the Italian rider looks well on his way to open the gap to second place in the Championship.

Taking a surprising second place in the second Practice session was Niki Tuuli (Dynavolt Triumph). The Triumph rider finished inside the top ten this morning but moved up to second place in the afternoon.

Another Ducati Panigale V2 featured in third place with Federico Caricasulo (Althea Racing Team) in third place. After missing out on the top ten this morning the Italian rider made a crucial step forward in the afternoon.

Second place in the Championship is Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha), who finished FP2 in fourth place. Oliver Bayliss (D34G Racing) had a rough start in FP1 but improved like so many others in the afternoon and dragged his Ducati up to fifth place in the second session of the day.

Marcel Schrotter (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) was the top MV Agusta this afternoon after finished in sixth place, just outside of the top five. Maximilian Kofler (D34G Racing) made a massive step in the second session of the day as he jumped up to seventh place.

Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) finished in eighth place in the second session after finishing fourth place in the opening session of the weekend. Jorge Navarro (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) finished in ninth place in the afternoon after dropping from seventh in the morning.

The rounding outside the top ten was this mornings leader, Bahattin Sofoglu (MV Agusta Reparto Corse). The Turkish rider had an impressive showing in the morning, but slid down the order this afternoon.

The British riders in World Supersport all finished outside of the top ten. Tom Booth-Amos (Motozoo ME AIR Racing) finished 13th this afternoon after finishing tenth in the opening session. John McPhee (Vince64 by Puccetti Racing) finished 16th once again, just like he did in FP1. Harry Truelove (Dynavolt Triumph) took his Triumph to a 26th place finish. Then finally, Tarran Mackenzie (Petronas MIE Honda Team) finished 28th in FP2.
