Maria Herrera is set for a Moto3 Aragon wildcard with a difference this weekend as she spearheads an all-female team.

Joining Angeluss MTA Racing, alongside Stefano Nepa and Ivan Ortola, Herrera will swap the now-concluded MotoE Cup for the lightweight class at round 15. The collaboration between Alessandro Tonucci's MTA squad and Aurora Angelucci, CEO of the title sponsor, will field a completely female team, from the technicians to the manager, supporting the 26-year-old.

“I did a test with Angeluss MTA Racing at Motorland,” Herrera explained of her initial preparation on the KTM. “The weekend will be different, because in that situation I rode alone, while from Friday to Sunday I will have to measure myself among the opponents.

“I hope to find excellent sensations immediately, working at my best from the first free practice session; I will try to push the girls, demonstrating how a totally female team can do well in such a prestigious and competitive stage. I am charged and motivated, I can't wait to get started."

“Our participation is to be evaluated as a great result in the history of the World Championship, in fact, we sincerely hope to be a source of inspiration for young girls wishing to enter this world,” Angelucci confirmed. “We held a preparatory test right at Motorland, the track where Maria Herrera obtained her first personal victory in the CEV of the category, and home to her world champion wild card.
