MotoGP commercial rights holders Dorna have confirmed it has formally resolved its differences with CryptoDATA - the title sponsor and majority shareholder of RNF Racing - following its move to expel the team from the series at the end of the 2023 MotoGP season.
The Malaysian outfit had its grid slots for 2024 confiscated over what Dorna and the FIM cited as 'repeated infractions and breaches of the Participation Agreement affecting the public image of MotoGP’.
Prompting a war of words between the two parties, Dorna has now revealed relations have since thawed, prompting an acknowledgment of CryptoDATA’s contribution to both MotoGP and RNF Racing.
“We appreciate the involvement CryptoDATA has had in MotoGP. During our collaboration, CryptoDATA had a contribution in MotoGP with an impact on various fronts. Besides being the title sponsor for the Austrian GP, CryptoDATA became the majority shareholder of and helped RNF to overcome tough moments in a very short timeline.
Bogdan Maruntis, Co-Founder of CryptoDATA and Head of Global Strategy, added: “The objective of CryptoDATA was never to be involved in the sporting side of the RNF team because this is not our field of activity.
“Nevertheless, we saw an opportunity to get a deeper involvement in the motorsports realm and decided to help the RNF Team to overcome their situation. It has been a great journey and we appreciate the collaboration of all the paddock community.
Currently CryptoDATA has fulfilled its proposed objectives in terms of business and marketing in MotoGP™ and will focus on our main purpose in the technology industry. We will remain MotoGP™ fans and will collaborate as much as possible with the Championship.”
The resolution comes on the day it was revealed Trackhouse Racing will take over from RNF Racing to run Aprilia’s satellite MotoGP project in 2024.
The American outfit, which was formed to compete in NASCAR, will retain the same team staff structure as RNF Racing, as well as existing riders Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez.
