Fabio Di Giannantonio puts pen to paper on a new Ducati contract

Gold and Goose

Fabio Di Giannantonio will stay with VR46 with Ducati Factory support, only a year after potentially losing his MotoGP ride.

Fabio Di Giannantonio remaining with VR46 for the next two seasons was a very open secret in MotoGP. Especially after Davide Tardozzi told the media of this decision at the British Grand Prix, before VR46 had announced it.

Di Giannantonio will be in the VR46 squad for the 2025 and 2026 MotoGP season after signing a two-year contract. However, the Italian did not only sign for the VR46 team. Di Giannantonio's contract is actaully signed with Ducati themselves.

For 2025 and 2026 Di Giannantonio will receive a full factory Ducati at the VR46 squad. This is not something that many would have predicted midway through the 2023 season.

After a lacklustre rookie season in 2022, and a rather unimpressive start to 2023, it seemed Di Giannantonio was out of a ride for this year. However, a late burst of form in 2023, and getting the VR46 seat for 2024, the 25-year-olds MotoGP career has gone from strength to strength since.

After the British Grand Prix Di Giannantonio can be found in eighth in the MotoGP standings. The Italian is ahead of the likes of Marco Bezzecchi and Alex Marquez. Di Giannantonio has scored 104 points so far this year, and has not been outside of the top ten in the nine Grand Prix races he has finished.

Speaking on his announcement yesterday Di Giannantonio said: "Being able to sign this contract was significant for me, and I am proud of it. I will be part of the Ducati family for two years and continue with my VR46 Racing Team. This represents a milestone and a significant starting point for my sporting growth.

"With Ducati's support and having an official bike, we can continue to grow and achieve great things together. I want to thank Ducati for its trust, Claudio, Gigi, Mauro, and the VR46 Racing Team that believed in me last year during a difficult moment. So, a big thank you also to Vale, Uccio, Pablo, all the team members, and my staff because this whole journey would never have been possible without them."
