Jake Dixon comments on a difficult Spanish Grand Prix

Gold & Goose

Jake Dixon sits in third place in the Moto2 World Championship after finishing ninth in the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Spanish Grand Prix was not the easiest weekend for the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team as a whole. It saw Jake Dixon and Filip Salac finish in ninth and tenth place at the Circuito de Jerez.

Dixon's weekend started off with him in eighth place at the end of Practice on Friday afternoon. The British rider went on to qualify in ninth place on Saturday.

Unlike his Argentine and American Grand Prix performances, Dixon was not able to fight at the front. Instead, the 29-year-old chose to settle for decent points to aid his Championship campaign.

"It was a difficult day to say the least," Dixon commented after the Spanish Grand Prix.

"We did the best we could possibly do. I didn’t stop pushing or give up until the end. I even had a moment on the second to last lap, when I ran wide at the end of the back straight like in practice.

"Luckily, I didn’t run off and into the gravel and just kept giving everything until the last lap. I want to say a massive thank you to the team because they never stopped trying to fix the problems I’ve been having this weekend.

"We did the best we could do and I already can’t wait for the next one!"

After failing to finish the Qatar Grand Prix and finishing in ninth place in the Spanish Grand Prix, Dixon is now in third place in the 2025 Moto2 World Championship.

The British rider is now 20 points behind Manuel Gonzalez, who leads the Moto2 World Championship.
